WES FODERINGHAM Many predicted the Gers keeper would be in for perhaps his busiest afternoon of the campaign. Got down well to block Armstrong’s free-kick but could do nothing as the midfielder fired Celtic in front. Comfortable otherwise. 6
LEE HODSON Back in the starting line-up as Graeme Murty looked to stifle Celtic. Fared well against Sinclair as the winger struggled at times on the Celtic left flank. Decent outing from the Northern Irishman. 6
CLINT HILL Has been a reliable performer for Rangers this term but hasn’t had his troubles to seek in the Old Firm encounters. Coped well with the in-form Celtic attack and was the unlikely hero as he popped up with a dramatic equaliser with just minutes to spare. 7
DANNY WILSON Got the nod ahead of Philippe Senderos as he partnered Hill. Caught in possession a few times and distribution could have been better. Booked for a foul on Armstrong. 6
LEE WALLACE Gers skipper had to face the music as Rangers crashed to a 5-1 defeat on their last trip to Parkhead. Couldn’t inspire his side to derby victory. Another solid showing at left-back, though. 6
JAMES TAVERNIER Switched to a midfield role once again as Murty went 4-4-2. Had to offer extra protection from the threat of Sinclair and Tierney. Didn’t have much influence going forward but can’t be faulted for effort. 6
EMERSON HYNDMAN Was sent to Ibrox by Bournemouth to gain big match experience and this would have been an eye-opener for the American kid. Has been a real influence for Rangers in recent weeks. Not at his best here but had a hand in Hill’s equaliser. 6
JASON HOLT Started well in the midfield battle but had his head in his hands after his two errors in the build-up to Armstrong’s opener. Almost curled home an equaliser just seconds before he was replaced. 6
BARRIE MCKAY The winger has risen to the big occasion several times for Rangers but he couldn’t shine at Parkhead. A tame shot that Gordon easily held was one of his few moments and he was replaced by Windass before the hour. 4
MARTYN WAGHORN Provided a physical presence at the head of the Gers attack and put in a tireless shift. Spurned a glorious chance in the first half as he failed to beat Gordon when one v one with the keeper. Goal would have capped a good showing. 7
KENNY MILLER Many Gers fans would have marked Miller out as a potential derby hero as they chased an unlikely Old Firm victory. Another tireless 90 minutes from the striker as he lead by example. Had few chances but more than played his part. 7
SUBS:
JOSH WINDASS (for McKay 59) Always keen to get involved in the play. Put in a shift as the Gers claimed a point. 4
HARRY FORRESTER (for Holt 80) Added much-needed fresh legs in the middle of the park in the final minutes. 3
MICHAEL O’HALLORAN (for Waghorn 83) Murty’s final throw of the dice as Rangers looked for a way back into the game. 3
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
