GORDON (7): Made the save of the game when he stuck out his left foot to deny Martyn Waghorn in the opening period with the score still at 0-0. Came to the fore again in one flurry of Rangers activity in the second period when he was quick off his line to punch the ball clear before smothering another Waghorn effort. Palmed away Hyndman's effort before being beaten by Hill effort from close range.
LUSTIG (6): On the end of a “robust” challenge from Clint Hill in the early stages and took him a while to get going after that. Involved in the build-up to Stuart Armstrong’s goal with the throw-in that started the move off. Booked for dissent.
SVIATCHENKO (6): Early slip to allow Waghorn in and claim first corner of the game and it set the tone for an afternoon in which he seemed to stumble and falter at times. Not his most convincing of afternoons and troubled by the presence of Waghorn throughout the game.
BOYATA (6): Like Sviatchenko, looked nervous in the early stages and would have been the most relieved man in the stadium when Gordon denied Waghorn after the Belgian had slipped to allow the striker in.
TIERNEY (7): One second-half nutmeg on Tavernier before spinning away from the defender. A strong second half showing as he tried to get Celtic forward.
FORREST (7): Set up the opening goal when he collected from Brown and played in Armstrong. Strong showing in his first game back from injury and saw a lot of the ball.
BITTON (5): Never quite got going. In fairness, took a hefty kick from Waghorn in the opening period but was replaced by Callum McGregor at the break.
BROWN (8): Found the ball taken off his tow by Emerson Hyndman in the early minutes but grew into the game as he dragged the Celtic midfield into things after a 20 minutes where they found themselves under a bit of pressure.. A bit of ball-juggling on the far touchline saw him taken a kick from James Tavernier. Booked for a foul on Waghorn in the latter stages.
ARMSTRONG (7): Hit the opening goal after a fine strike into the bottom left-hand corner of the net and had come close earlier in the game with a free-kick that Wes Foderingham palmed onto a post.
SINCLAIR (6): Never quite found the same fluency that has characterised his season. Given his propensity to announce himself on the big games, he was uncharacteristically off the pace.
DEMBELE (6): By his own standards, quiet. Had a chance to score in the second period but hit a weak effort straight into the arms of Foderingham. Another chance as the game drew to a close but hit his effort across the face of the goal.
MCGREGOR (5): Brought more pace to the Celtic midfield in the second period
ROBERTS (4): On for Forrest as the winger ran out of steam.
GRIFFITHS (4): Took over from Armstrong with just under 20 minutes of regulation time remaining. Felt he should have had a penalty after being fouled by Hill immediately after the equaliser.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
