TEENAGER Erin Cuthbert scored her second Scotland goal in five games and Kim Little notched her 48th in 120 to make it the Late Show as their side sank New Zealand in Larnaca.

The opening Cyprus Cup game looked certain to finish in a 1-1 stalemate until two fine strikes in the final seven minutes by the Chelsea and Arsenal midfielders snatched the win and rendered Amber Hearn's even later goal for New Zealand academic.

Including two friendly draws against Denmark in January, also in Chelsea, Anna Signeul's side have started their Euro 2017 year undefeated in three games against higher-ranked nations.

“Getting off to a winning start in the tournament is obviously great,” Cuthbert, 18, said. “We want to put our marker down for all the other countries at the Euros – to say we're not just participating.

“We're here to prove that we're Scottish and we don't give up.”

Scotland took the lead after nine minutes. A move down the left resulted in striker Christie Murray hitting the bar, and from the rebound Jane Ross scored.

New Zealand equalised eleven minutes later and it was a goal Scotland goalkeeper Shannon Lynn, making her first back-to-back starts, will want to forget. Her intended pass was intercepted by Rosie White, and the former Liverpool striker scored easily.

Lynn atoned for the error with some good saves as the Football Ferns pressed strongly in the second half. That provided the platform for Cuthbert and Little, with both goals coming from Fiona Brown assists down the left.

New Zealand's afternoon was summed up by Riley's diving header coming back off a post just before Little's conclusive third goal.
