Shay Logan hopes home comforts can help Aberdeen retain their second spot in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Starting with the visit of Ross County on Saturday, the Dons play at Pittodrie in five of their last eight fixtures before the split.
And no matter how third-placed Rangers fare at Inverness on Friday night, Derek McInnes' side will go into the game ahead of the Light Blues, who will begin the match six points behind.
Aberdeen have lost only twice in the league in the Granite City this season, both times to runaway league leaders Celtic, and it is that home form which encourages the 29-year-old defender.
"There is no reason why we can't stay in second spot and I am confident we will stay there but there are still 13 games to go and plenty of points still available," he said.
"We have to take it game by game. At the end of the season if you finish in second or third place, it is normally a fair reflection of what has happened during the season.
"We have five home games coming up before the split and every team prefers playing at home so hopefully that will help us.
"It is a good chance to pick up some points. We have a good home record and teams know it is tough when they come here. But we take it game by game."
Aberdeen, who have lost only one of their last 10 matches, knocked the Staggies out of the William Hill Scottish Cup in Dingwall earlier in the month thanks to a late deflected strike by Logan.
The Dons did lose 2-1 in the league at County in December although Jim McIntyre's side are without a win in five matches.
The former Brentford player's only other goal this season was in the 4-0 win over the Highland side at Pittodrie in October.
He said: "For Ross County on Saturday I don't think it is about revenge for them, it will just be about picking up points.
"They have been on a difficult run but that does not make our task any easier because they will be determined to put in a strong performance.
"It will be a tough task and we know how hard games against them have been in the past. We can't just turn up expecting to win.
"It is always a tough game against Ross County but we are in a rich vein of form at the moment. "
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
