PAUL GALLACHER isn’t exactly slow to get in the ear of his defenders. The Partick Thistle goalkeeper was at it again in his long-awaited comeback at the weekend, and would hate to think it’s the last time he gets to dish out orders.

Doubling as the Firhill club’s goal-keeping coach, 36-year-old Gallacher was called upon to answer an emergency from manager Alan Archibald, arising from Ryan Scully’s suspension allied to the fact no.1 keeper Tomas Cerny is continuing to recover from injury, and he didn’t disappoint.

As well as displaying razor-sharp reflexes, his vocal chords were every bit as impressive and Gallacher would love nothing more than another opportunity to let those in front of him know he’s there in the near future.

He said: “I was maybe barking a bit too much because I was trying too hard! But they were all fair tuned in to their jobs and made my life easier.

“I’d love to get the chance to shout at the defenders again in the next game and it would be fantastic to retain that jersey. I don’t think it will happen, but you never know in football though.”

Dundee, who’d been quiet by their own standards, had Hemmings to thank for striking with just five minutes left, after the visitors had stormed into a fifth minute lead when 20-year-old stopper Liam Lindsay headed home

Hemmings, with his first goal in the league since August 29, insists he didn’t lose belief in his ability during his recent dry patch in front of goal.

He said: “It was nice to get the monkey off the back. I don’t get too down personally when not scoring but you do start think that maybe it’s not coming.”
