CELTIC continued its long-term support of Poppyscotland when they handed over a cheque for £10,000 to the charity at Lennoxtown yesterday.

The donation will be used primarily to support Poppyscotland’s internet-based education project ‘Sowing the Poppy Seed’.

Celtic players Leigh Griffiths, Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor were joined by Joseph Dodds - the grandson of club great Joe Dodds who served in the First World War - to present the cheque to Fraser Bedwell of Poppyscotland.

Poppyscotland head of fundraising Colin Flinn said: "This will help us to further develop our important and popular education programme which is delivered in schools throughout Scotland."

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: "As we approach Remembrance Sunday it is important that we take time to remember the victims on all sides of all conflicts across the globe."
