After an extraordinary sequence of matches the Wallabies must be on the point of exhaustion but it has looked that way time and again over the past month and yet they have repeatedly found ways to overcome it.

A week after their comprehensive defeat of England they looked short of similar inspiration against Wales but kept them out, while against a Scotland team that produced by far its best performance of the year, they may ultimately have been helped out by both opponents and referee, but still managed to get themselves into a position to take advantage.

Then last weekend they were repeatedly sliced open by lacerating Puma claws, yet still would not be killed off.

How much can they possibly have left? We will find out at Twickenham.
