LEWIS HAMILTON says he has no intention of helping Nico Rosberg secure second place in the Formula One drivers' championship, and revealed he has yet to discuss their first-corner clash in last weekend's United States Grand Prix.
Mercedes chief Toto Wolff said he would speak to Hamilton over the incident in which the team-mates banged wheels on the exit of turn one. Hamilton emerged in the lead while the German slipped to fifth. Rosberg was seething with Hamilton after the race, describing his driving as "extremely aggressive" and going "too far".
While Hamilton went on to win the race and secure an unassailable lead in the championship, Rosberg is third in the standings, four points adrift of Sebastian Vettel with three races remaining, starting with Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix.
"We haven't spoken and I don't think we really need to," Hamilton said. "The reason I think we don't need to have talks is that I am quite easygoing and don't have any problems.
"If Toto feels he needs to perhaps see Nico to see where his head is at ... generally we try to keep things transparent but I am sure he will sit Nico down to see what he's feeling and emotions he has and try to move on."
Asked whether he would help Rosberg finish second in the championship, Hamilton added: "The team have not asked me to play that role. I am here to win the race.
"The team have already won the constructors' championship, so from here on there I don't think there will be a huge benefit for the team, but I will see what Toto wants me to do."
