Jonny Gray in action in the World Cup quarter-final with big brother Richie in support
While most in Scotland will be delighted for all concerned there may be a few eyebrows raised at the forename, if not the surname of the Scot he has chosen at lock.
Richie Gray, with that blonde mane, has been an outstanding figure within the Scottish pack for a few years now but it is younger brother Jonny who is seen as an increasingly important player.
The youngster’s work-rate in the course of the tournament was exceptional, just as it has been every time he has pulled on a Glasgow Warriors or Scotland shirt in his short professional career.
It will be a major surprise if, presuming he maintains the standards he has set himself, that is not recognised by the Lions management in two years time.
