Former Celtic defender Ramon Vega is considering standing for FIFA president.

According to reports, Vega has said he will decide at the end of the week if he intends to stand against UEFA president Michel Platini.

Platini had been favourite to take over from Blatter, who was suspended by FIFA amid corruption allegations. However, he has now been caught up in the investigation over a payment made by Blatter to him.

His candidacy will be discussed at a meeting of FIFA’s executive committee on Tuesday.

In the Scotsman, Vega said: “I come without baggage and I have substantial experience from both football and in finance.”

The Swiss international played at Celtic for six months after arriving on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in December 2000.
