Neil Irvine-Hess scored an amazing try yesterday when Melrose played reigning champions Heriot's in the BT Premiership - hours before New Zealand's All Blacks destroyed France with nine stunning tries of their own in the World Cup quarter-final.

The Melrose flanker, capped by Scotland at under-20 level, made a lung-bursting 80m sprint to the line, evading numerous attempted tackles, to score the world-class try at the Greenyards. Melrose won the game 32-21.
