Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has been handed a two-game suspended ban by the Scottish Football Association for comments made about referee Willie Collum.

The Gorgie boss reacted to the official's dismissal of Callum Paterson during the 3-2 defeat to Hamilton Accies at New Douglas Park in August.

Neilson said: "We actually practised going down to 10 men because of the environment we're coming to and the officials who are taking the game and we have to do that.

"In the recent past, the statistics involving the officials have shown a lot of red cards against us, so we have to prepare for it."

The former Hearts defender was hit with a notice of complaint for his comments and found guilty of breaching disciplinary rule 72.

A disciplinary tribunal, convened in accordance with the judicial panel protocol, found Neilson to have criticised the performance of the match officials, "in such a way as to indicate bias or incompetence on their part".

The suspension will only take effect if a further breach of disciplinary rule 72 is committed before the end of the season.
