JAMIE Redman ruined Ayr United’s chance of moving clear at the top of League One, with a late Peterhead equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Somerset Park. Nicky Devlin put Ayr in front early in the second half but Redman equalised with just three minutes left.

There was no change to the order of the top half of the table with Ayr keeping their one-point advantage over Dunfermline, who were also held at home, 1-1 by Airdrieonians.

George Hunter opened the scoring after 18 minutes, his shot slipping through Sean Murdoch’s fingers. Michael Moffat eventually headed Dunfermline level after 73 minutes from Andy Geggan’s cross and, for all the home side’s late pressure, they could not find the winner.

Forfar Athletic lost ground when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Stranraer. Mark McGuigan put Stranraer in front after 20 minutes with a composed finish and Chris Aitken made it 2-0 from the spot after 56 minutes when McGuigan was fouled.

Michael Travis pulled a goal back with 13 minutes left but Forfar, who had hit woodwork twice in the first half, could not produce an equalising goal.

Andy Barrowman scored twice with his head as Albion Rovers beat Stenhousemuir 2-0. Stenhousemuir’s Colin McMenamin was shown a straight red card for kicking out at Ross Dunlop.

Brechin City continued their revival with a 2-0 home win over Cowdenbeath. David Bates and Jonathan Tiffoney scored before Robert Buchanan missed a penalty for Cowdenbeath. Cowdenbeath’s Dean Brett then picked up his second yellow card and was sent off.
