ANNAN Athletic top the League Two table following a 2-0 win at Berwick Rangers.

Rabin Omar opened the scoring with a 13th-minute volley before the visitors made sure of victory with Smart Osadolor’s finish 12 minutes after the restart.

Elgin City slipped to second-place after a 3-1 defeat at Queen’s Park.

David Galt’s 29th-minute close-range effort put the Glasgow side on their way and Elgin’s afternoon worsened when Mark Nicolson was dismissed for a second booking in the 50th minute.

Jamie McKernon’s crisp finish on the hour mark doubled their advantage although, following the hosts’ Chris Dougan’s needless second yellow card for kicking the ball away, Elgin halved the deficit through Connor McLaren.

Hopes of an Elgin comeback then vanished when their goalkeeper Mark Hurst scored an own goal to restore Queen’s Park’s two-goal cushion.

Montrose join a cluster of five clubs on 12 points in joint second after a 2-1 win over East Stirling who are now bottom of the league. Graham Webster and Gary Fraser both scored in the first-half for Montrose while Max Wright netted a late consolation for Shire.

Arbroath leapt off the foot of the table with a 2-0 success against Stirling Albion at Gayfield.

Sergio Alvarez notched Arbroath’s opening goal in the 49th minute and striker Bobby Linn soon added a second.

Gary Naysmith’s East Fife enjoyed a 1-0 win over Barry Ferguson’s Clyde at New Bayview.

Nathan Austin set up what turned out to be the winner in the 13th minute, reaching the bye-line before cutting back for Kevin Smith to finish.
