ALLOA ATHLETIC tried to erect a roadblock but Islam Feruz helped Hibernian swat aside Danny Lennon’s visitors in a 3-0 victory.

The Leith outfit saw off their opponents in a comprehensive win decided by goals from Liam Henderson, Jason Cummings and John McGinn.

Hibernian head coach Stubbs also handed Feruz his debut from the bench in the second half, just days after the on-loan Chelsea marksman appeared in a Glasgow court over claims he was driving without a licence and insurance while being banned.

“We want Islam to do his talking on the pitch,” remarked Stubbs.

“He’s disappointed by what happened but we will work with him and put our arm round him as best we can.”

Alloa attempted to park the bus in their bid to claim at least a point but Hibs finally broke their resistance a minute before the break when Henderson found the net.

The Alloa goalkeeper David Crawford could only parry Cummings’ right-footed shot across goal and the on-loan Celtic player raced in to dispatch the rebound.

Cummings then added his fifth of the season in the 50th minute with a shot from a tight angle inside the box, teed up by David Gray, though goalkeeper Crawford could have done better.

McGinn notched a third in the 65th minute with the aid of some shambolic defending from the visitors.

The Scotland Under-21 captain strolled into the box unmarked to accept Henderson’s corner and took his time before drilling a low shot past Crawford from close range.

Alloa manager Lennon said: “We were delighted with the game plan in the first half, the operation went well but the patient died.”
