FALKIRK kept Rangers within sight as they stormed back from two goals down to snatch an unlikely 3-2 win at St Mirren.

John Baird scored twice in the second half, his second coming in injury time – a painful defeat for the home side. Scott Agnew had put St Mirren in front after only three minutes and a composed finish from Stevie Mallan extended their lead before half-time.

But Falkirk were given some hope when Luke Leahy headed in a David Smith cross on 55 minutes.

Baird equalised from the penalty spot on 71 minutes before securing three points from Smith’s cutback.

Raith Rovers moved up to fifth with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Queen of the South at Stark’s Park, maintaining their 100 per cent home record.

Andy Dowie thought he had given Queen of the South the breakthrough midway through the second half with a netbound header but Kevin Cuthbert made a spectacular save.

And soon after, Kyle Benedictus headed the winning goal from a James Craigen corner.

Morton and Dumbarton fought out a 0-0 draw at Cappielow.

Conor Pepper was sent off in the second half for his second bookable offence and Derek Gaston, Morton’s goalkeeper, made a string of saves to prevent Dumbarton taking advantage.
