ON the eve of Scotland announcing their final team at Stirling Castle, Sir Bradley Wiggins' participation in this summer's Commonwealth Games was confirmed yesterday and there may be more good news in the pipeline for Glasgow 2014 organisers.

Wiggins, who won Olympic time-trial gold and the Tour de France in 2012, will spearhead England's cycling challenge on the roads of Glasgow, while fellow London 2012 medallists Laura Trott, Dani King, Joanna Rowsell, Lizzie Armitstead, Jason Kenny, Ed Clancy and Steven Burke lead a formidable track team.

Last year's Tour de France winner, Chris Froome, will channel all his efforts into his title defence, while Wiggins' omission from Team Sky's Tour team allows him to focus on a double gold tilt in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, Mo Farah is reportedly considering chasing the same 5000m and 10,000m double he has achieved at the Olympics and World Championships.
