Graham Carey never did start at Celtic Park in the home strip, so every trip back is to be treasured.
The boyhood dream may be gone, but the family allegiance lingers. None of that will prevent the Ross County winger from attempting to dampen the Parkhead title party with the odd flash of trickery on the left flank.
Carey's only start for Celtic came in a 3-3 away draw with Rapid Vienna in the Europa League in December 2009.
There were many times when he warmed the bench in the East End of Glasgow, but Carey had to move to St Mirren and County to realise the ambition of actually playing at a packed Parkhead.
Each return, then, comes in the form of a slightly painful reminder of unfinished business.
"It is always good going back," Carey said. "A good experience and something I enjoy. But it is a regret for me because, when I moved to Celtic from Shelbourne in 2005, I went there to play more than one game.
"It was disappointing I did not break into the first team, but it is behind me now and I am looking to kick on in my career.
"It is always something I will be disappointed about, as it was my goal to break into the first team and it did not happen. But I have moved on now and, hopefully, come Saturday I will put in a good performance."
Celtic Park has been almost eerily quiet at times this season as the champions sleepwalked to the title. Carey, though, knows only too well that it will be packed to the rafters and thunderously noisy today. "It has been quiet at times there of late, but I don't think it will be like that on Saturday for some reason!" he laughed. "It will be good. We need to enjoy it as much as they do, as it will be a full house.
"There are not many times you get to go to Parkhead when it is a full house. We just need to be positive and try to get at them early on. We need to try to keep the crowd quiet a little bit. It will be difficult but I think that is what we need to do.
"I think we can feed off the atmosphere and it is the type of atmosphere you always want to play in. If we take what we have been doing over the last couple of weeks into the game, I think we can get something from it.
"We aren't going there just to let them party."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
