TOMMY WRIGHT, the St Johnstone manager, has joined the race to sign Newcastle United striker Adam Campbell on loan.

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon has previously shown interest in bringing the England under-19 forward to the SPFL Premiership, but Wright has also been in touch with Newcastle - making his interest known to former colleague Willie Donnachie who handles the club's youth set-up. The Perth side have worked with Newcastle before, securing Mehdi Abeid on loan for six months last January. Wright tried to sign the midfielder again this summer but he chose instead to move to Panathanaikos on a year-long loan.
