Table tennis is a fast-paced sport which relies on lighting-fast reactions and incredible hand-eye coordination.

It made its debut as a Commonwealth sport in Manchester and has since become a hugely popular spectator sport with players compete in singles and doubles, in men's and women's and mixed categories.

The Singaporeans have been the strongest team in previous Games, but countries such as India, England and Australia are catching up.

The Big Event

Friday August 1 and Saturday August 2 are the big days for Table Tennis at Glasgow 2014, with the men's and women's singles and doubles golds being decided.

The team final events on July 27 and 28 are could be one of the highlights of the Games.

Gillian Edwards, Scotland's top ranked women's player, will be hoping to wow the home crowd with her sensational spin, alongside Craig Howieson, who represented Scotland in the men's competition in Delhi.
