ANOTHER Glasgow protest is set to take place today in the heart of the city centre as COP26 continues.

Activists will today gather at the Buchanan Gallery steps to take part in the 'greenwash march' which is organised by Extinction Rebellion.

Protesters will congregate at 12pm and the full demonstration will take place over the course of a three-hour period. Activists are being encouraged to wear green for the march.

The exact route is not yet known, so some drivers may face further delays in the city.

Although, it is understood that the procession will follow a two mile route which will start and finish in the same location.

Some activists have arrived early and are letting their voice be known at the busy shopping centre entrance.

Todays march comes as Extinction Rebellion Scotland yesterday blocked off Waterloo Street in Glasgow which caused major disruption for transport in the city.

More action is also planned in the coming days which will fill Glasgow streets with people demanding climate action, and the route for a 100,000 strong protest on Saturday has been confirmed.

So, when and where are some of the protests happening? We have created a map which shows planned action all across Scotland during the two-week talks.

Planned protests have already been seen across the city since the start of the climate summit.

On Saturday Extinction Rebellion joined up with the Pilgrims Procession - a group of people who walked from various parts of the UK to Glasgow for the talks. It was considered the “opening ceremony” in a programme of non-violent direct actions during COP26.

Greta Thunberg also arrived on Saturday, and she was yesterday filmed chanting "you can shove your climate crisis up your a**e" at a snap rally in Glasgow.

The remaining protests we know of so far, are as follows:

Wednesday November 3 – Greenwash March – 12pm – A march through the city centre starting and finishing at Buchanan Gallery stepway after a 2-mile route. All protestors will aim to wear green during the procession to ‘call out big polluters and the institutions that bankroll them’.

Friday November 5 – Fridays for Future march – 11am – Protesters will be marching at 11 am from Kelvingrove park, starting from the Prince of Wales Bridge and march to George Square. A rally will then take place in George Square

Saturday November 6 – Global Day of Action (Justice March) - 12pm – Kelvingrove will be the main place where mass groups will gather. A number between 50,000-100,000 protesters are expected to attend as they march from Kelvingrove Park to Glasgow Green via the city centre.

However, there will be much more planned action on this day around the world and in Scotland. Check out our map above to find out where planned action will take place during COP26.

November 7-12 – Smaller scale protests – Protest in Glasgow include ‘Loss & Damage’, Africa Drillers = Northern Killer’s, and ‘Armadillo Die’ at the Necropolis.

Activists have been attempting to heap pressure on world leaders and delegates to ensure they take the necessary action to properly tackle the climate crisis.

Extinction Rebellion warned ministers to be “very worried” by their campaign, and the first of their exploits began earlier this week.

However, that sparked a reaction from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who urged climate protesters not to add to the “disruption and inconvenience” Glaswegians are already facing during the climate summit.
