PRESIDENT Joe Biden has arrived in Scotland for the COP26 summit.

Air Force One touched down in Edinburgh Airport at around 11am.

President Biden will be one of around 120 leaders set to attend the world leaders’ event at the start of the two-week conference, which aims to drive action to curb global warming and avoid its most dangerous impacts.

He is coming to the UK for two days after attending the G20 leaders’ summit in Rome, which will also be attended by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The modified Boeing aircraft crossed the border into Scotland at around 10.30am and began its descent into Edinburgh Airport.

President Biden is thought to be opting to stay in the capital between events - meaning he will be among commuters travelling between the two cities for the duration of the summit, despite warnings of huge travel delays and potential protests.

President Biden will travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow by road in his car nicknamed The Beast.

The Beast is a custom-built Cadillac 18ft limousine, which weighs between 6.5 and 8 tonnes.

It has extensive security measures built-in, with a bullet proof exterior just the beginning - it can also withstand explosions and give electric shocks via the handles.

Litres of the President's blood are carried around in the car in case of an emergency.

Biden used this car at the G7 summit earlier this summer, while President Obama also used to use the car for overseas trips.
