Nicola Sturgeon rarely misses an opportunity to attack Boris Johnson.  So there has been a curious silence on this week’s damning Commons Covid reports. Westminster MPs accused the UK Government of participating in herd immunity “group think” and delay that led to unnecessary deaths.

Has Ms Sturgeon developed a belated sympathy for the PM?  She’s repeatedly accused Mr Johnson in the past of putting lives at risk - most recently when he declared Freedom Day on July 19th.

No.  The FM wisely realised this wasn’t the moment for cheap political point scoring.

The Scottish Government was party to the self same “group think” as Boris Johnson’s. The claims that Scotland handled the pandemic better never really stood up. Ms Sturgeon made exactly the same “mistakes“ identified by the Commons committees.
