IT has always been a bit of a disappointment to me that St Andrew's Day in Scotland is never really celebrated like our other United Kingdom partners do with their national days. Maybe it is our thrawn genetic make-up.

This morning (November 30) on Radio 2, Chris Evans did us proud. Straight after the 8am news he regaled us with the Proclaimers and Sunshine on Leith followed by some Bill Martin-penned ditties and an interview with the man himself.

As I looked over to the rising sun shining on Rothesay, in my case, it was nice to reflect on the stanza "to see oorsels as others see us" as demonstrated by Mr Evans from his London studio. Nice one.
