MY congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (“Harry and Meghan engaged”, The Herald, November 28) couple and I hope they will be very happy together. However, who is to pay for the wedding and the additional demand for royal security for Ms Markle?
More than half of the BBC's Six O'clock News was taken tonight (November 27) with idle chatter about the engagement – nothing significant about the Irish border problem (post-Brexit), for instance. The entire presentation was also grossly insensitive to the feelings of the growing body of republicans.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
