HOW appropriate and long overdue to see Kenneth McKellar being remembered and inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame ("Forget the shortbread image, it's time to celebrate Kenneth McKellar's genius", Herald Arts, October 28).

In him Paisley had a superb ambassador in song. It is disappointing that, with the honourable exception of two weekly programmes, his voice is not heard on the Radio Scotland airwaves.

I cannot remember when I last heard him on Classic FM. Handel’s “Where e’re you walk” is often played, but none of the modern singers get near to the sheer joy of McKellar’s recording.

Sincere thanks to the likes of Jamie MacDougall and Sarah Nelson for reminding us of what a superb legacy he has left to us.
