YOUR front-page lead headline on Monday read "Thousands could be tipped over edge into financial ruin" (The Herald, October 30). It is stated that more than one-third of Scots are worried about the amount of money which they owe, while the Governor of the Bank of England warns that personal debt has reached unsustainable levels.

Yet turn the page and one reads that more than half of Sheffield natives and 41 per cent of Glaswegians are to opt for celebrating Christmas abroad ("Sunseekers ditching a traditional Christmas", The Herald, October 30).

Either Walter Mitty still lives or perhaps these trips to the sun are to be paid with fake money.

Should I be signing this contribution, "Confused"?
