EVERYONE is delighted that Paisley, the land of Tannahill, Byrne, Coates, Alexander Wilson and many others is being recognised (“Paisley’s culture bid has changed perceptions of town, says director”, The Herald, October 25). Well, perhaps not everyone.

On my return from programme-making in the Arctic, I was raving about the experience and mentioned that Greenland is about the size of India and has half of Paisley's population. A wee man on an adjacent bar stool was heard to mutter, "Could ye no' send them the other bliddy hauf as well?"
