INURED as I am to the London-centric content of the BBC, even I was startled that the organisation should choose to broadcast a lengthy interview with the England rugby coach on his team selection for the game against Italy at half-time during the gripping and finely poised Scotland v Wales game on Saturday. Frankly, at that point, only watchers in Englandshire could have given a monkey's what he thought.

All we really needed then was a reminder that they won a different sport's competition in 1966.

But I'm sure they'll get around to that sometime soon.

THE suggestion that Scotland 2016 and its predecessors were “dire” (Letters, February 25) is unfair. Shelley Jofre and her colleagues did an excellent job of presenting the programme in a gentle yet challenging way consistent with its late-night slot. The blame lies with BBC bosses, who deliberately scheduled the programme so as to minimise audience figures and justify its eventual demise.
