I NOTE the letter from Dr Hamish Maclaren (January 6), in which he expresses relief that I have parted ways with Hamish, a scoundrel appearing regularly in my puzzles. Unfortunately, the respite was short-lived and Hamish has been back with his unscrupulous behaviour of late. However, I have taken note of Dr Maclaren's advice and I can report that Hamish's days are numbered. All will be revealed in the puzzle of February 16.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
