I READ with interest Ken Smith’s article featuring the record breaking 3,000th daily organ recital at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum which took place last Sunday (“3,000 ways to enjoy a musical wonder of the world”, The Herald, October 27), but I was somewhat disappointed that there was no mention of the Bearsden Choir, which also participated in the recital.

The Bearsden Choir has a special relationship with the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Under its then musical director James Hunter, the choir performed in several major fundraising concerts in 2003 for the Kelvingrove Refurbishment Appeal, including the closing concert and at the opening concert in July 2006 following the completion of the refurbishment.

During the recital last Sunday the choir performed Kelvingrove, Afton Water, In Paradisum from Faure's Requiem, Te Deum in C by Haydn and a spectacular finale finish in the 1812 Overture.

Our next concert is on November 7 at St Mary's Cathedral, Great Western Road.
