Iain MacWhirter is correct in his analysis of the UK's foreign policy (When it comes to human rights, the UK is an equal opportunities hypocrite open to all dictators, Comment, October 25). With a bit of imagination, our politicians, senior industrialists, and financial institutions could find ways of investing in our industry and creating jobs and markets for our goods and services that does not involve kowtowing to dictators and oppressive regimes around the world.

What a lot of unimaginative people they must be.
