WE may complain about the waiting times in our A&E departments but then the blanket target of four hours irrespective of how serious your complaint is indeed a nonsense (“New hospital apologises for worst A&E performance since opening”, The Herald, October 14, and Letters, October 15).
Just think how lucky we are compared to our neighbours across the Border who have three-quarters of the 79 hospital trusts judged as unsafe. In addition 40 per cent of their nursing and care homes and one in three GP services also had problems with safety.
In its sixth year of government the Tory Party's priorities are certainly not focused on the safe treatment/health of its population. As a party it is much more focused on Trident, Europe and immigration.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
