DAVID Stubley is right to say that it is only proper that BBC management should be held to account (Letters, October 10), but he seems to be living in a parallel universe if he believes that production staff are placed on a pedestal at the expense of what's described as the onscreen talent. Talk to anyone who's ever worked in BBC production, on wages many times less than the said talent and you see not gilded employees living the life of Riley, but very hard working and dedicated professionals who by and large strive to – and do – have good working relationships with presenters. Whilst one sympathises with anyone (including Jeremy Clarkson) in the personal life difficulties they face such as cancer or the death of a loved one, that does not (no matter how famous) give licence to behave as a bully or tyrant or in an obnoxious manner. That's simple common humanity and proper employment practice, not the tail wagging the dog as Mr Stubley would have it.
