HAD Pauline Speitel Cairns consulted Glaswegians of a certain age (Scots Word of the Week, The Herald, October 3), they would have confirmed Michael Munro's view that "dissy" is simply a diminutive of disappointment, "dissied" being a humiliation rarely revealed, while "giving a dissy" engendered a perverse notion of superiority.
