What a sad day now we have lost the wonderful golf coverage of The Open Championship to a commercial company; the continuous play interrupted by irritating adverts squeezed in at every opportunity and a fee of £30 if you are not a Sky customer for the privilege ("Cuts bite as BBC ends its live coverage of Open a year early", The Herald, October 1). I cannot see for a minute how the BBC think it's appropriate to show highlights. It's gone so just leave it that way. The results are already known.
