It is right and proper that Nicola Sturgeon continues to support suspended MP Michelle Thomson until such time that any charges against the latter are proven or otherwise ("Sturgeon claims SNP had no knowledge of Thomson's business dealings", The Herald, October 1).

What is surprising is that the all conquering SNP machine's radar failed to pick up an association between a lawyer struck off by the Law Society of Scotland and the property business in which both the MP and her husband were involved.

Moreover, the principles of a left of centre party and that of property speculators hardly reconcile, thereby suggesting greater scrutiny should apply.
