AS a Church of Scotland member and a former teacher at Tabeetha School it beggars belief that the Kirk sees fit to bleat on about funding cuts in Israel when over the border in Syria Christians are burned to death, shot and beheaded just for being Christians (“Cuts fear for Scot’s Christian school in Israel”, The Herald, September 11). Surely for once the Church can speak out against these ongoing atrocities instead of selling yet another bad news story about Israel.

Good luck with the teachers’ strike. I hope the government listens and I hope the Church of Scotland appreciates that in Israel you can strike and protest because it is a democracy.
