I READ with nostalgia the fine tribute to Finlay Morrison, the Scottish professional golfer who has died aged 100 (Herald obituary, September 7). As secretary of the Scottish Professional Golfers’ Association in the 1960s, I knew him well and last met him at the celebration of John Panton's life held in Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

He and Panton were good friends of the late Jimmy Wilson, professional at Pitlochry, and as the three of them approached the 18th green at Pitlochry some years after all of them had retired, an onlooker commented: "Here come the Last Of The Summer Wine".

Three gentlemen of Scottish professional golf.
