Jeremy Clarkson's intentions to go "all British" for his new Oxfordshire pub has hit a snag.
The former Top Gear host recently revealed he had purchased The Windmill near Burford.
He reportedly paid “less than £1 million” but recognised that lots of work needs to be done to get the location up to scratch.
Back in July, he said: “There is some work to be done on the pub itself as the cellar is too small, the gable end is falling down, the outside decking area is dangerous, the water is unfit for human consumption, the loft is full of dead rats and the lavatories are illegal.
Don’t worry if your A level results aren’t what you were hoping for. I got a C and two Us, and here I am, 46 years later, with my own pub.

It opens next weekend if you fancy dropping in.
“And I can’t start work on any of these things now because when I bought the pub, I inherited a long-standing commitment to a young couple who, in a couple of weeks’ time, are having their wedding reception there.
“It’s entirely possible that I won’t get the place mended and open until the icy hand of winter has descended.”
Yet Mr Clarkson has now revealed that the pub will be opening as early as next week.
Despite the quick turnaround, his attempts to go "all British" have hit a wall.
He posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: "We are attempting to go all British for the food at my pub. But we are struggling to find black pepper grown here. Can anyone help?"

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
