A ‘match made in heaven’ has secured a spot amongst the shelves of a UK supermarket giant.
Whether you love it or hate it, Marmite has been a staple British tradition for decades.
And now, Marmite Cheddar, the 'perfect combination' of Ilchester Cheddar Cheese and Marmite, the nation's much-loved spread, is available to buy in Iceland stores across the UK.
Ffion Davies, Senior Brand Manager for Ilchester, said: “Marmite Cheddar is the perfect combination of delicious British Cheddar, blended with a tasty hint of salty and savoury Marmite.
As a respite from the excitement of JKR and the HCA, look at the size of my new jar of marmite! I had no idea you could get such big ones. I’m quite giddy with it! pic.twitter.com/iyDFyKEFni

"The cheese has been a hit with consumers since it launched with people saying, ‘it makes the best cheese on toast ever!’ and that it is ‘so creamy and flavourful’.
“The listing in Iceland is very welcome and will give Iceland shoppers the chance to snap up this tasty cheese and enjoy it in a sandwich, melted on some toast or in a number of hearty dishes.
"It makes a great addition to a creamy pasta sauce or crumbled over a jacket potato. The list is endless.”
Jolanda Wells, Licensing Manager, at Unilever, said: “We know that the purchase intent from shoppers for products that pair Marmite and cheese is 25% higher than for Marmite alone, and we’re confident that Iceland customers will enjoy the distinctive flavour of Marmite Cheddar.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
