Two Banksy screenprints are to go up for sale at auction in Glasgow later this week and are expected to fetch £20,000 each.

The works come from a collector in the Western Isles and are included in the Winter Two Day Fine Art & Antiques Auction at Great Western Auctions.

The two prints are expected to fetch £20,000 each and are among a collection of items that will be going under the hammer on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7

The Banksy works are Laugh Now from 2003 and Trolley from 2007 and are expected to attract a lot of attention from buyers when the auction gets underway.

Banksy’s high profile has continued to grow through his bold, imaginative street art and often uses animals to convey his favoured themes which are usually social, environmental or political issues.

In June 2023, The Herald exclusively revealed that Glasgow was to host a Banksy exhibition that had been officially authorised by the artist.

CUT & RUN revealed for the first time the stencils used to create many of the artist’s most iconic works.

The two Banksy prints will go on sale a host of other artwork with The Last Cartridge by Scottish artist and explorer William Burn Murdock expected to go for between £4,000 and £6,000.

Other artwork includes Bi-Planes over Ypres by William Lionel Wyllie, who was the most celebrated marine artist of his day as well as Frederick Elkington’s renaissance-style Victorian Silver Ewer while an early 19th century bracket clock is expected to go for between £5,000 and £8,000.
