A popular Scottish shopping centre has brought forward expansion proposals that include new offerings such as tenpin bowling, karaoke, laser quest and escape rooms.

Glasgow Fort, one of the city’s largest shopping centres, is calling on people to have their say on the plans in a new consultation.

The centre said the proposals form part of Glasgow Fort’s “ongoing investment into creating the best experiences for its customers”, having also welcomed a number of high-profile brands over the last year, including Rituals and Primark, as well as Zara which opened its largest store in Scotland.

The centre said: “In a major investment into the retail park, shoppers will be able to enjoy new retail space and increased leisure experiences, such as tenpin bowling, karaoke, laser quest and escape rooms, complementing the existing blend of operators already on site.”

The firm said that “to ensure that the works are aligned with the needs of the local community”, a consultation period will open on Monday, December 9.

Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “At Glasgow Fort, we’re always striving to create the best possible experience for our customers by providing new and improved retail and leisure offerings.

“We hope that our visitors are excited by the prospect of an even bigger and better shopping and leisure experience. We believe these new additions will help us truly provide something for everyone.

“We’re looking forward to hearing the views of the local community to ensure that Glasgow Fort remains a place that is providing exceptional experiences for all our visitors.”

Stakeholders will be able to find out more via the online hub, or can speak to one of the Glasgow Fort team on-site at Tinderbox cafe at one of two drop-in events, on Wednesday, December 11 between 2pm and 7pm and Thursday, January 16, between 4pm and 6pm.

Planning permission granted to redevelop historic football stadium

Plans to redevelop part of a historic football stadium have been granted to turn part of it into new dynamic space.

The Montrose Community Trust hope to turn part of the stadium into a space for cultural, social and educational activities in Montrose and the rest of the Angus region.

Links Trust has been home to Montrose FC since it was built in 1887 and is a key part of the local community. Now the trust will revitalise the Gable End of the stadium in a bid to improve those links to the community and provide an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
