A historic Scottish furniture retail and removal business has attracted attention after being put up for sale.

The family firm is described as a "cornerstone of the community", while it is "known for its exceptional customer service and quality offerings".

Alastair Donald, of the Consultancy Network, is handling the sale of Bremners of Foggie, Aberchirder, Aberdeenshire, which is listed at a guide price of £750,000.

The 17th century property is set within eight acres of private grounds, and previously operated as a 17-bedroom country house hotel.

Christie & Co has been instructed to market the former Kirroughtree House Hotel in Newton Stewart, which it said was the family seat of the Heron Family from the 15th to 19th centuries, and it is also believed that the house had connections to both James Boswell and Robert Burns, each having stayed as guests.

Kirroughtree House Hotel is being marketed at an asking price of offers over £695,000.

A former city centre student union and educational building are to be sold at auction.

The two “substantial” buildings total 88,794 square feet with a central courtyard on a total site of about half an acre.

Acuitus Auctioneers said site was previously a student union with retail and residential uses and the Clarke Building was a former educational facility.

The Schoolhill site is listed at a guide price of £350,000 - £375,000 and the auction is live-streamed on December 12.

A heritable bank investment in a Scottish town is to go to auction.

The 6,956 square-foot property is entirely let to long-term tenant Clydesdale Bank, trading as Virgin Money, under a recently extended lease for 10 years.

The property produces £62,500 per annum in rental income.

The bank in Dunfermline, Fife, is being offered at a guide price of £500,000 at the Acuitus auction on December 12.
