Detectives have launched an investigation after a teenager was raped in Glasgow city centre.

Officers told the BBC the 19-year-old woman was attacked at about 01:55 on Friday in Sauchiehall Lane.

The scene, between the junction with Elmbank Street and Holland Street, was taped off following the incident.

Police Scotland confirmed inquiries into the serious sexual assault were ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "Around 1.55am on Friday, 15 November 2024 we received a report of a serious sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in Sauchiehall Lane between the junction with Elmbank Street and Holland Street in Glasgow.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
