Emergency services were called to a primary school after a child was injured. 

It is understood that police responded to a 'medical matter' at Giffnock Primary School on Thursday afternoon.

East Renfrewshire Council confirmed that emergency crews were called to the school after a child was injured. 

The local authority added that it will work with the school to provide support needed. 

A spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council told The Herald: “A child was injured at Giffnock Primary this afternoon and emergency services were called.

"Following this incident, the council will continue to work closely with the school to provide necessary support.”
