A historic and “respected” French-owned testing and inspection company has acquired a Scottish surveyor.

The company which is now operating in 25 countries was set up to help rebuild Europe in the wake of the Second World War.

Scototec UK, a testing, inspection and certification company in the construction and environment sectors has taken over Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys Ltd, which specialises in hydrographic surveys, oceanographic services, geophysical surveys, environmental surveys, ROV Inspection surveys, LiDAR mapping, and utility and land surveying

Aspect, based in Irvine is a leading independent coastal surveying company “renowned for its high-resolution hydrographic and land and utility surveying services”.

Utilising advanced technology and equipment, such as UAVs and multi-purpose vessels, they provide high-resolution data and integrated turn-key solutions to clients across various sectors, including utilities, ports and harbours, defence, renewables, environment, construction, buildings, mines, and quarries.

The acquisition further enhances Socotec UK’s existing land-based surveying capabilities, enabling access to a growing and specialist surveying market with strong opportunities for local expansion.

It follows the recent acquisitions of Building Pathology specialists Hutton + Rostron (H+R), remote monitoring and advanced geospatial solutions experts IETG and 40Seven in 2023, and Impulse Geophysics in 2024.
