Police are appealing for information following a fatal crash in Rutherglen.

The incident happened on Main Street around 4.10pm on Tuesday, November 5, and involved a black Mercedes Vito taxi and a 16-year-old male pedestrian.

Emergency services attended and the 16-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on Saturday, 9 November.

Police said a 58-year-old man was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and released pending further enquiries.

The road was closed until around 8.15pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the teenager who died at this terrible time.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch if you think you can help.

“I would also appeal for anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dash-cam footage that could assist to contact us.”
