A renowned restaurant in the Scottish capital has been sold.

The agent said the eatery which had been “consistently one of the best-regarded Edinburgh restaurants on TripAdvisor” was sold to another city player.

The New Chapter restaurant has been taken over by the team behind Cilantro curry house on Leith Walk.

“Having recently being involved with the letting next door at number 14 Eyre Place to Cardinal it was particularly pleasing to finalise this deal.

“We had multiple offers and interest - allowing our client to consider the best fit for the site and the area.”

Cornerstone also said: “The site has always proved to be popular given the high-quality trading area and demographics on the doorstep.

“Given the location and previous trading history the business would suit a wide variety of trading styles and cuisines.

“The subjects are offered in excellent condition and could easily be reverted to a different trading style with minimal capex spend.”

It sits next to the New Town Quarter, which is a mixed use residential, leisure and office development under way.

The agent said its selling clients plan to focus on separate business interests in the city.

The value of the deal was not disclosed but the up to 90-cover restaurant was marketed at a £70,000 leasehold premium and the rental £45,000 a year.
