Consumer goods veteran Pamela Scott has been appointed the new chair of Scotland Food & Drink.

Heralding her appointment, the producers’ body said Ms Scott brings a “wealth of experience” to the role, having spent 28 years with Diageo where she rose to become global operational excellence director with the Scotch whisky giant.

She has also held a range of executive and non-executive board roles with Scottish Leather Group, Donaldson Timber Group, Places for People Scotland, Circularity Scotland, and Big Hearts Community Trust, which Scotland Food & Drink says has equipped her with the “skills and insight” to support its mission to build a “sustainable, globally recognised” sector.

Ms Scott said: “Scotland’s food and drink businesses are an integral part of our national identity, celebrated for their quality, provenance, and the passionate people behind them.

Iain Baxter, chief executive of Scotland Food & Drink, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Pamela as chair. Her deep understanding of the sector and her proven leadership in governance, innovation, and operational excellence make her an invaluable asset to our organisation.
